In the constant need to acquire knowledge, I´ve
continued my Rhinoceros + Grasshopper grade by
myself, experimenting, investigating and playing with
different algorithms which allow me to get a better
understandig on the parametric world.
One of these experiments was a Mutated Tower which
can evolves or “mutates” it´s form according to different
variables, it is still in process, but this self taught exercise
opened my mind to a infinite number of possibilities that
controled design has to offer.
I´ve come to falling in love with the process, the design
desicions, the alternative paths and the possible solutions
that the programs allow us to make.
By controling the building´s polygon sides, we are able to
obtain and gain different possible functioning plans.
In order to aerodynamicalli avoid the strongest winds, we
can rotate each floor on it´s own plane rather following a
calculated range or a controled trajectory.
The Sun, it will always be a heavy weighted variable in our
designs, we will always seek it´s light, and for that the
building is capable to convine the floor rotations within a
range of scale in order to reach the mayor quantity of
The polygon floor´s second function is to add itself to the
repetition, rotation and scale abilities in order to create a
supporting inner and outer structure based on the path
that every vertex on the polygon describes while the
By creating a controled Voronoi at the Tower´s base
[which determines the polygon´s sides of it] we are able to
design some beautiful landscapes in order to get a green
surface percentage against the constructed area.
