2012 M.Arch (Prof) Intensive Design Studio – Flat-Pack Emergency Shelter

Aim
To develop a new prefabrication, off-site modes of production using different materials and different forms of labour than is the norm in New Zealand.

Programme Brief
Provide an emergency shelter for environmental refugees and improve their living condition temporarily arranged in local care centre (gymnasium, stadium etc.)

Learning Outcomes
How a piece of architecture can help disaster victims in substantial way (for instance, encouraging victims to participate in shelter building process) and holistic consideration regarding the use of CNC machine in the field of emergency architecture.
